GHRP-6 (growth hormone-releasing peptide-6) is a synthetic six-amino-acid peptide, first reported in 1984, that binds the ghrelin receptor and signals the pituitary to release growth hormone.47 This listing is a 5 mg vial of freeze-dried GHRP-6 for laboratory research. It has no approved label (DailyMed lists none), and FDA names it among compounding substances that may present significant safety risks.1617

Questions about GHRP-6

About GHRP-6

GHRP-6 is a lab-made peptide of six amino acids, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, with D-forms of tryptophan and phenylalanine at positions 2 and 5.21 The first report, in 1984, found it released growth hormone from incubated pituitary tissue and in live rats, monkeys, lambs and calves, with no rise in LH, FSH, TSH or prolactin.4 It predates the discovery of its target: the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) was cloned in 1996, and its natural partner, the stomach hormone ghrelin, was identified in 1999.56 A second binding site, CD36, has been tied to cell-survival signaling in cell and animal work.7

Researchers looking for GHRP-6 for sale will find it here as a single 5 mg vial, and the selector above shows the GHRP-6 price and stock at each shipping origin. Side effects, study doses and the full source list are in What is GHRP-6?, worth reading before you buy GHRP-6 online for a project.

Research highlights

  • Healthy men (1989, 17 men): 30-minute IV infusions reliably raised growth hormone above a threshold dose, did not move LH, FSH, TSH or ACTH, and were well tolerated.8
  • Synergy (1990, 18 men): low IV doses acted synergistically with GHRH; prolactin and cortisol about doubled, but only at the highest dose tested.9
  • Dependence on GHRH (1998, 9 men): blocking the body's own GHRH cut the peak growth hormone rise from 33.8 to 6.2 µg/L.10
  • 34-hour infusion (1993, 9 young men): integrated growth hormone roughly doubled against saline and IGF-1 climbed from 252 to 312 µg/L, with no loss of pituitary response.11
  • Diagnosis (2000, 250 adults): given with GHRH as a single IV test, it separated adults with growth hormone deficiency from healthy adults at a 15 µg/L cut-off, and the hormone peaks caused no side effects.12
  • Sleep (1995, placebo-controlled, healthy men): four night-time IV doses lengthened stage 2 sleep (270 vs 245 minutes) without changing deep sleep, while raising ACTH and cortisol.13
  • Pigs (2007): in a heart attack model, damaged heart tissue weighed 78% less and the infarct was 50% thinner than with saline.14
  • Evidence level (2026 review): the human record is limited to phase I and small mechanistic studies; there are no controlled efficacy trials or long-term safety data.15

Regulatory status

GHRP-6 is not an FDA-approved drug, and DailyMed returned no label for it when searched on October 24, 2026.16 Since September 29, 2023, FDA has placed it in category 2 for outsourcing facilities (section 503B): bulk substances that may present significant safety risks.17 FDA cites a possible immune-reaction risk for certain routes, a potential effect on cortisol and higher blood sugar from reduced insulin sensitivity.17 For pharmacy compounding (section 503A), FDA's May 14, 2026 list puts GHRP-6 in category 3, substances nominated without adequate support.18 WADA bans it in and out of competition (class S2.2.4), and ClinicalTrials.gov lists no registered study.1920 Every vial is labeled: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Handling and storage

The vial holds freeze-dried powder of unstated salt form, and PubChem records GHRP-6 both as a free base and as an acetate.2 Independent stability data for GHRP-6 vials could not be found. FDA links the immune-reaction risk of compounded GHRP-6 to potential aggregation and peptide-related impurities.17 For lab work, see the reconstitution guide, and use the reconstitution calculator for the concentration math.

Frequently asked questions

Where does GHRP-6 ship from?

Orders ship from the USA and Canada to addresses across the United States. GHRP-6 has more than one listed shipping origin, and availability can differ between them, so check the selector at the top of this page for each origin's price and stock before checkout. The shipping page explains delivery options.

How should GHRP-6 be stored when it arrives?

No independent stability data for GHRP-6 vials were found, and there is no approved label to set storage rules.16 Keeping the powder dry matters, since moisture shortens the shelf life of freeze-dried peptides in supplier data relayed by FDA.23 Practical lab storage is covered in how to store peptides.

What strengths of GHRP-6 are available?

The vial on this page holds 5 mg. Two related ghrelin-receptor peptides are listed separately: GHRP-2, from the same GHRP family, and Ipamorelin. In pigs, GHRP-6 raised ACTH and cortisol, while ipamorelin did not raise them beyond what GHRH did, even at more than 200 times its effective dose.21

Is there a certificate of analysis for GHRP-6?

The lab results page lists certificates and other lab documents where available. An identity check should match PubChem's formula for GHRP-6, C46H56N12O6, and a molar mass of about 873 g/mol.1 Identity matters as much as purity: doping labs have found black-market products containing Gly-GHRP-6, the peptide with an extra glycine attached.22

What supplies are used with a GHRP-6 vial?

In the lab, the powder is dissolved in a sterile diluent such as bacteriostatic water, sold separately. Volumes are drawn with insulin syringes or a 3 mL Luer-Lok syringe and 18G needle, and stoppers are wiped with alcohol swabs. The reconstitution calculator does the concentration math. This is lab handling, not use in people.

Is GHRP-6 for human use?

No. GHRP-6 is supplied for laboratory research, with this label on every vial: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. It has no FDA-approved label and no registered clinical trial.1620 No country was found to have approved it as a medicine, and a 2017 review wrote that the GHRP family was still waiting for a clear clinical role.7
