This category holds one product, HCG. In US medicine, hCG is a prescription drug: FDA approved Pregnyl, which contains hCG, on October 20, 1976.1 The approved uses of urinary hCG are prepubertal cryptorchidism (undescended testes) not caused by an anatomical obstruction, selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males, and induction of ovulation and pregnancy in certain anovulatory infertile women.23 A prescriber sets the dose for each of those uses. The HCG vial sold here is a research product labeled: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
HCG is also filed under post-cycle therapy peptides and reproductive health peptides. The HCG education page covers the label, and the testosterone goal guide maps related research.
The HCG vial ships from the USA and Canada to addresses across the United States, as set out on the shipping page. The returns page gives the return terms, and the lab results page lists testing documents as they become available. Mixing steps for freeze-dried vials are in the reconstitution guide.
Not as a medicine. FDA states that hCG is not approved for use without a prescription for any purpose, and that FDA-approved hCG products are available only as injections that need a prescription from a licensed medical professional.56 The HCG sold here is not a medicine: it is a vial for laboratory research, sold under our research use policy. Health Canada named HCG among unauthorized injectable peptide products in April 2026.7
No. The hCG label states that it has not been shown to be effective added therapy for obesity, and that there is no substantial evidence it increases weight loss beyond what calorie restriction achieves.8 FDA says there are no FDA-approved hCG products for weight loss.9 HCG is not filed under weight loss peptides, and this page makes no weight claim for it.
Not under the usual compounding exemptions. Since March 23, 2020, approved hCG applications have counted as biologics licenses, and FDA said these transitioning biological products are not eligible for the compounding exemptions in sections 503A and 503B of the federal drug law.410 FDA named human chorionic gonadotropin as one of four bulk drug substances, used by outsourcing facilities, that the change affected.11
