AOD-9604 is a synthetic peptide of 16 amino acids: residues 177 to 191 of human growth hormone with an added tyrosine at the front.1 Developed in Australia as a possible obesity drug, it failed its largest trial: weight loss was not significantly greater than with placebo.7 It is not an FDA-approved drug.1 This vial holds 2 mg of white freeze-dried solid for laboratory research.5

| Storage | The supplier lists a shelf life of 36 months at -20 °C and 30 days at 2 to 8 °C, without saying whether the 30 days applies before or after mixing.5 These are supplier figures, not an official standard: AOD-9604 has no USP or National Formulary monograph.1 |
Labs that need AOD-9604 in larger quantities can apply for a wholesale account. Bulk terms are confirmed on application.
AOD-9604 copies residues 177 to 191 from the tail of human growth hormone (hGH), with one tyrosine added at the front.1 Its two cysteines, at positions 7 and 14, are joined by a disulfide bond.4 The Melbourne company Metabolic Pharmaceuticals developed and patented the peptide in the late 1990s as a candidate obesity drug.17
In obese rats and mice it reduced weight gain.89 In people, the developer's largest trial (536 adults) found weight loss versus placebo too small to reach statistical significance, and the company ended obesity development in February 2007.7 FDA concluded in 2024 that evidence of effectiveness for obesity is lacking for any route.1
This page lists AOD-9604 for sale as a 2 mg research vial, with the AOD-9604 price in the selector above. Read What is AOD-9604? for side effects and study doses before you buy AOD-9604 online for a study.
AOD-9604 is not an ingredient of any FDA-approved drug, and it has no USP or National Formulary monograph.1 In a 12 to 0 vote on December 4, 2024, FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee advised against placing it on the 503A Bulks List, FDA's list of bulk drug substances that can be used to compound drugs under section 503A.111 The 2026 WADA Prohibited List names it under S2.2.3 as a growth hormone fragment, prohibited in and out of competition.12 The vial is labeled: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
According to a supplier certificate cited by FDA, up to 2 mg of the free base dissolves in 1 mL of water, so each 1 mg needs at least 0.5 mL.1 FDA also notes that peptides like AOD-9604 can clump and degrade with changes in pH, temperature, concentration or impurities.1 Lab steps and concentration math are in How to reconstitute AOD-9604, general technique in How to reconstitute a peptide vial, and the reconstitution calculator does the division. Diluent is not included when you buy AOD-9604, so bacteriostatic water is listed separately.5
This page lists AOD-9604 at 2 mg per vial, from $25. Orders ship from the USA and Canada to addresses across the United States, and the selector shows stock for each shipping origin before the vial goes in the cart. Delivery options are on the shipping page, and return terms are on the returns page.
Keep the sealed vial closed, dry and cold. A safety data sheet cited by FDA says to keep the free base dry in closed containers: 3 years at -18 °C, 1 year at 0 to 7 °C, half a year at 7 to 30 °C.1 Figures differ between suppliers: a product insert cited by FDA gives the acetate form more than four years at -20 °C.1 Storage after mixing is covered in How to reconstitute AOD-9604.
See the lab results page for certificate information, or ask about a specific lot through the contact page. Check which tests any certificate covers: in its 2024 review, FDA found that specific tests for impurities, aggregates, microbes and bacterial endotoxin were missing from the certificate submitted to it and from public sources.1 A reported molecular mass can be compared with 1815.1 g/mol for the free base2 or 1,875.1 g/mol for the acetate salt.1
The supplies listed with this vial are bacteriostatic water, a 3 mL Luer-Lok syringe, an 18G 1-inch needle, insulin syringes and alcohol swabs. In the two early IV trials, the study drug was supplied freeze-dried and dissolved in sterile water for injection before use.6
No. This vial is sold for laboratory research and labeled: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. AOD-9604 is not an ingredient of any FDA-approved drug, and FDA identified no human data for injection under the skin.1 Human trials gave it only by mouth or by vein.6 WADA bans it in sport at all times.12
