GHRP-2, also known as pralmorelin, is a lab-made hexapeptide (six amino acids) that binds the ghrelin receptor and triggers growth hormone release from the pituitary.31920 Japan approved it in 2004 solely for a one-time diagnostic test for growth hormone deficiency, and it has no FDA approval.615 This vial holds 5 mg of GHRP-2 for laboratory research.

Questions about GHRP-2

About GHRP-2

GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is built from six amino acids, one of them D-2-naphthylalanine, which the body does not produce.3 By activating the ghrelin receptor, it releases growth hormone through actions at both the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland.1920 It began as one of a set of peptides from Polygen (Germany) and Tulane University (US).8 Kaken Pharmaceutical of Japan later acquired worldwide rights and developed it as KP-102.820

GHRP-2 for sale here comes as a 5 mg research vial, and the selector shows the GHRP-2 price and stock for each shipping origin. Before you buy GHRP-2 online for a study, read What is GHRP-2? for side effects, study doses and the full regulatory record.

Research highlights

  • Diagnosis, Japan (2007, 135 people): one IV dose produced mean growth hormone peaks of 84.6 µg/L in 77 healthy volunteers versus 1.36 µg/L in 58 adults with severe deficiency.9
  • Post-marketing survey, Japan (2006 to 2012, 502 patients): against diagnosis with two or more other tests, sensitivity was 0.853 and specificity 0.885 for severe growth hormone deficiency.6
  • Appetite (2005, 7 lean men): a 270-minute infusion under the skin raised buffet intake 35.9% over saline, and all 7 men ate more.10
  • Older adults (2004, 17 men and women): 30 days of continuous infusion under the skin kept pulsatile growth hormone and IGF-1 elevated.11
  • Pigs (1998): GHRP-2 was more potent than GHRP-6 or ipamorelin yet gave a lower peak growth hormone level, and unlike ipamorelin it raised ACTH and cortisol.12
  • Young adults (1997, 6 people): one IV dose released more growth hormone than GHRH and raised prolactin, ACTH and cortisol, the latter two about as much as the hormone CRH.13
  • Rats (2025): after a rotator cuff tear, GHRP-2 improved healing scores and bone density at 8 weeks and made the repair biomechanically stronger.14

Regulatory status

GHRP-2 has no FDA approval; openFDA's Drugs@FDA data returned no application for pralmorelin on October 24, 2026.15 Japan approved GHRP KAKEN 100 for Injection on October 22, 2004, as a prescription test for growth hormone deficiency.65 Japan's regulator reported in 2014 that no other country had approved or sold the product.6 Since September 29, 2023, FDA has placed GHRP-2 for injectable and nasal use in category 2 for outsourcing facilities: bulk substances that may present significant safety risks.16 FDA cited a possible risk of immune reactions and reports of serious adverse events whose cause was not established.16 WADA bans it at all times under class S2.2.4 on the 2026 List and on the 2027 List, which takes effect January 1, 2027.1718 Every vial is labeled: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.

Handling and storage

Japan's 100 µg hydrochloride vial is dissolved in 10 mL of saline just before use, and its label reports stability for up to 24 hours at room temperature after mixing.56 The supplier states neither the salt form nor any stability data for this 5 mg vial. FDA links the immune-reaction risk of compounded injectable or nasal GHRP-2 to possible aggregation and peptide-related impurities.16 Mixing steps are in the reconstitution guide, and the reconstitution calculator does the concentration math for a given diluent volume.

Frequently asked questions

Where does GHRP-2 ship from?

Orders ship from the USA and Canada to addresses across the United States. Each shipping origin for GHRP-2 has its own stock status, so choose one in the selector to see whether it is available and what it costs before checkout. Delivery options are explained on the shipping page.

How should GHRP-2 be stored when it arrives?

The supplier lists no storage conditions for this 5 mg vial. The closest regulator-reviewed guidance is Japan's label for a 100 µg diagnostic vial: keep it cold (10 °C or below) but unfrozen, and away from light after the box is opened.5 General lab practice is covered in how to store peptides.

What strengths of GHRP-2 are available?

The vial on this page holds 5 mg. Japan's approved diagnostic product is a different, far smaller vial of 100 µg (0.1 mg) meant for a single clinical test.5 Two related ghrelin-receptor peptides have their own pages: GHRP-6, from the same family, and Ipamorelin, which in pigs, unlike GHRP-2, did not raise ACTH or cortisol beyond what GHRH did.12

Is there a certificate of analysis for GHRP-2?

Where certificates and other lab documents are available, they are posted on the lab results page. An identity test should match the free peptide's formula, C45H55N9O6, and molar mass of about 818 g/mol.1 PubChem's record for GHRP-2 is CID 6918245; CID 6852372, listed by some websites, is a different stereoisomer.14 Identity testing matters: in 2010 a German anti-doping lab found about 50 µg of GHRP-2 per tablet in an over-the-counter supplement.21

What supplies are used with a GHRP-2 vial?

Labs dissolve the contents in a sterile diluent such as bacteriostatic water and wipe stoppers with alcohol swabs. Volumes are measured with insulin syringes or a 3 mL Luer-Lok syringe fitted with an 18G needle. The reconstitution calculator handles the concentration math. This covers lab handling only, not use in people.

Is GHRP-2 for human use?

No. This vial is sold for laboratory research and carries the label: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. Japan is the only country known to have approved it, for a single-dose diagnostic test that uses a different 100 µg product.56 GHRP-2 has no FDA approval, and FDA lists it among compounding substances that may present significant safety risks.1516
