DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide, international name emideltide) is a peptide of 9 amino acids, first isolated in 1977 from the blood of rabbits given electrical stimulation of the thalamus; the DSIP sold today is made synthetically.12 Each vial holds 5 mg as a white freeze-dried (lyophilized) solid.3 DSIP is not a registered drug in any country FDA searched, and FDA found human data only for intravenous use.2

Questions about DSIP

About DSIP

DSIP is a chain of 9 amino acids (a nonapeptide). MeSH, the National Library of Medicine's subject index, describes it as a neuropeptide found in neurons, peripheral organs and plasma.15 This page lists DSIP peptide for sale as a 5 mg research vial.

The human evidence is small: FDA counted 209 people given DSIP intravenously in published studies, for 1 to 15 days, and called the insomnia results inconclusive and at best preliminary.2 A ClinicalTrials.gov search in October 2026 found no registered DSIP study.16 Before you buy DSIP peptide for a study, read What is DSIP? for the trials and the safety data.

Research highlights

  • Rabbits, 1977: of 9 synthetic peptides infused into the brain ventricles under double-blind conditions, only DSIP specifically enhanced slow-wave (delta) and spindle EEG patterns.17
  • Rats: intravenous DSIP raised EEG delta-wave power from 1 to 4.5 hours after injection, and the effect grew with dose.2
  • Healthy volunteers, 1981 (double-blind crossover, 6 people): total sleep rose by a median 59% in the 130 minutes after a morning infusion, compared with placebo.18
  • Chronic insomnia, Schneider-Helmert 1987 (14 adults, no placebo arm): mean time to fall asleep dropped from 58.4 to 27.6 minutes over 7 nightly injections.2
  • Placebo-controlled insomnia trials by other groups: Monti 1987 (6 adults) judged the sleep gains of little clinical significance, and Bes 1992 (16 adults) found weak effects, not likely to be of major therapeutic benefit.21920
  • Hormones, 1993 (8 healthy women): DSIP did not change growth hormone or prolactin secretion.21

Regulatory status

DSIP has no USP or NF monograph and is not a component of any FDA-approved drug.2 FDA found no country where it is a registered drug, though a 2022 review lists the Russian DSIP product Deltaran as registered in Russia.227 FDA staff proposed not adding it to the list of bulk substances pharmacies may compound with, and on July 24, 2026 FDA's advisory committee voted 7 to 6, with 1 abstention, against recommending it.222 The vote is non-binding, and FDA's meeting page showed no minutes or results when checked on October 25, 2026.2324 DSIP is not named on WADA's 2026 Prohibited List; its class S0 bans, at all times, any substance not covered elsewhere on the List that has no current government approval for human therapeutic use.2526

Handling and storage

Salt form changes how DSIP dissolves.2 FDA, citing chemical suppliers, lists the free base as soluble in water at only 0.5 mg/mL and the acetate salt at 10 mg/mL in phosphate buffer (PBS, pH 7.2).2 The supplier's listing does not say which form its vial holds.3 FDA also notes that peptides like DSIP can be very sensitive to pH, heat, concentration and impurities, which may cause clumping (aggregation) and breakdown, with loss of biological activity.2 Lab steps and the concentration math are in the reconstitution guide, the reconstitution calculator and how to store peptides.

Frequently asked questions

How much does DSIP peptide cost?

The DSIP peptide price starts at $35, and the listing comes in 5 mg. The selector at the top of the page shows stock for each shipping origin before the vial goes in your cart. Labs that need larger quantities can apply through the wholesale program, where volume terms are confirmed on application.

Where does DSIP ship from?

Orders ship from the USA and Canada to addresses across the United States. You pick the origin for each vial in the selector, which lists stock for every origin before checkout, so you know where the parcel will leave from. Delivery details are on the shipping page, and return terms are on the returns page.

How should DSIP be stored when it arrives?

Peptide makers such as Bachem ship freeze-dried peptides at room temperature and, for longer storage, keep them in a tightly closed container below -15 °C.10 For DSIP, chemical-supplier data summarized by FDA report about 3 weeks of stability at room temperature for the freeze-dried free base.2 DSIP contains tryptophan (Trp), and peptide makers note that Trp-containing peptides have limited shelf lives and oxidize easily, so vials are kept tightly capped with little air exposure.41011

Is there a certificate of analysis for DSIP?

The lab results page explains what testing documentation the store provides. When you read a certificate for DSIP, check which tests it covers, not only purity. FDA noted that the certificate filed with DSIP's compounding nomination mentioned no bioburden or endotoxin test, and that it has seen different salts, and even different active substances, sold under the same name.2

How to reconstitute DSIP?

There are no official mixing instructions for DSIP, because no FDA-approved DSIP product or label exists.2 In the lab, a freeze-dried vial is dissolved in a measured volume of diluent such as bacteriostatic water, drawn with a 3 mL Luer-Lok syringe after the stopper is wiped with an alcohol swab. Check the salt form first: FDA notes the free base has limited solubility in water.2 FDA labels for freeze-dried tesamorelin, an approved peptide, say to swirl or roll the vial rather than shake it.1213 The reconstitution calculator does the concentration math.

Is DSIP for human use?

No. Every vial is labeled: For research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. DSIP is not a component of any FDA-approved drug.2 FDA's 2026 review found no safety data for injection under the skin, and FDA says it lacks the information to know whether compounded emideltide would harm people.214
