Pinealon is a lab-made tripeptide, Glu-Asp-Arg (EDR), from Vladimir Khavinson's group at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology in Russia.65 Studies have tested it in nerve cells, rats and Alzheimer's model mice.679 Human data are limited to a few Russian studies.122223 Each vial holds 20 mg of white freeze-dried powder, sold for laboratory research.1

Questions about Pinealon

About Pinealon

Pinealon's three amino acids are glutamic acid, aspartic acid and arginine, in that order.3 Many of its studies come from the St. Petersburg institute and its partners.68911 The group's 2021 review lists its reported effects as nerve cell protection, antioxidant action, stem cell differentiation toward nerve cells, and DNA binding.5 This page lists Pinealon for sale as a 20 mg research vial, with the Pinealon price shown above.

A PubMed search for "pinealon" returned 22 records in October 2026, and ClinicalTrials.gov listed no Pinealon trial.1314 For the human reports, the proposed mechanism and the full source list, read What is Pinealon?.

Research highlights

  • Nerve and immune cells in culture (2011): under oxidative stress, Pinealon limited the buildup of reactive oxygen species in a dose-dependent way and reduced necrotic cell death.6
  • Rats, prenatal model (2012): offspring of rats with diet-induced high homocysteine oriented and learned better in a water maze when their mothers received Pinealon beforehand.7
  • Mouse neurons, cell model of Alzheimer's disease (2017): EDR at 200 ng/ml raised the number of mushroom-shaped dendritic spines by 71%, back to the normal level.8
  • Alzheimer's model mice (2021): two months of daily EDR injections prevented dendritic spine loss in 5xFAD mice.9
  • Old rats, carotid artery occlusion (2011): survival improved with the peptides tested (Pinealon and Cortexin), but with Pinealon, position-finding, motivated behavior and motor performance fell, and brain caspase-3 activity rose moderately.10
  • Rat pineal gland culture (2011): despite its name, Pinealon did not raise the growth and secretion markers that Epitalon (AEDG) raised.115
  • People, 32 adults aged 41 to 83 with chronic illnesses (2015, design not stated): the authors reported slower biological-age indicators with Pinealon and Vesugen, more clearly with Vesugen.12 They also found pro-oxidant activity and fewer blood CD34+ stem cell markers, which they read as inhibited blood cell formation, without saying which peptide caused it.12

Regulatory status

FDA has not approved Pinealon: an October 2026 search of its approval data found no product with it as an active ingredient.15 It is not on FDA's May 14, 2026 list of bulk substances nominated for compounding under section 503A.16 Health Canada's August 1, 2025 advisory names Pinealon among unauthorized injectable peptide drugs seized from a Canadian seller.17 The advisory says injectable peptides are regulated as prescription drugs in Canada, that the products had not been assessed for safety, efficacy and quality, and that selling unauthorized drugs is illegal there.17 WADA's 2026 list does not name Pinealon, but its class S0 bans at all times any substance not covered by the list's other sections that has no government approval for human therapeutic use.18 USADA says the 2027 list, in force January 1, 2027, names peptides in general under S0.19

Handling and storage

The supplier lists a shelf life of 36 months at -20 °C or 30 days at 2 to 8 °C; these are supplier figures, not published stability data.1 Pinealon begins with glutamic acid and contains aspartic acid.3 GenScript says peptides keep far less well in solution than dry, especially sequences with Asp or an N-terminal Glu, and it advises against storing peptides in solution.21 If that cannot be avoided, it suggests splitting the solution into aliquots kept at -20 °C and avoiding freeze-thaw cycles.21 The lab steps are in the reconstitution guide, and the reconstitution calculator converts vial amount and diluent volume into a concentration.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy Pinealon peptide?

This page sells Pinealon as a 20 mg vial of freeze-dried powder for laboratory research, shipped from the USA and Canada. The options above show the price, stock status and shipping origins. Pinealon is not an FDA-approved drug, and Health Canada has listed it among unauthorized injectable peptides seized from a Canadian seller.1517 Read the research use policy before ordering.

How should Pinealon be stored when it arrives?

Move the sealed vial to a refrigerator, away from light, as the supplier advises.1 For longer storage, GenScript, a peptide maker, gives -20 °C away from bright light as its general condition for freeze-dried peptides.21 Before opening a cold vial, let it reach room temperature, weigh out what is needed quickly and reseal the vial tightly.21 More detail is in How to store peptides.

What supplies are used with a Pinealon vial?

The vial is listed with bacteriostatic water, a 3 mL Luer-Lok syringe, an 18G 1-inch needle, insulin syringes and alcohol swabs. The water is sold separately.1 Published animal work used other solvents: 0.9% saline in a rat study and a physiological solution in a mouse study.79 The reconstitution calculator works out concentration for any diluent volume.

Is there a certificate of analysis for Pinealon?

See the lab results page for the store's certificate information. The supplier states a purity of 99.0% or higher by HPLC, a figure a certificate of analysis should confirm.1 A Pinealon certificate should also match PubChem's identity data: formula C15H26N6O8, molar mass 418.40 g/mol and CAS number 175175-23-2.24

Is Pinealon for human use?

No. The supplier sells Pinealon only for lab research, and its label rules out human and veterinary use.1 No human dose is established: Pinealon has no FDA approval, and no Pinealon trial is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.1514 In an August 2026 warning letter to one peptide seller, FDA said evidence from the seller's website showed its products were intended as drugs for human use, despite 'for research use only' labels.20
