PT-141 is the development code for bremelanotide, a lab-made cyclic peptide of seven amino acids that activates melanocortin receptors.31 Each vial holds 10 mg of PT-141 as a white freeze-dried (lyophilized) solid; bacteriostatic water is sold separately.13 The only FDA-approved bremelanotide product is Vyleesi, a prescription autoinjector.2 This vial is sold for laboratory research.

Questions about PT-141

About PT-141

PT-141 is the code name Palatin Technologies used for bremelanotide during development, when it was made as an analog of melanotan II.73 It is a chain of seven amino acids, partly closed into a ring, that ends in a free acid where melanotan II ends in an amide.18

The Vyleesi label describes bremelanotide as a melanocortin receptor agonist that activates several receptor subtypes without selectivity, most potently MC1R and then MC4R.1 The same label says the way it improves HSDD in women is unknown.1

FDA approved bremelanotide in June 2019 as Vyleesi, a 1.75 mg/0.3 mL prescription autoinjector for premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD).21 The label says it is not indicated for HSDD in postmenopausal women or in men, or to enhance sexual performance.1

This page lists PT-141 for sale as a 10 mg research vial. It is not Vyleesi, and it has no approved application.5 Researchers who buy PT-141 online here receive the freeze-dried solid; diluent and supplies are separate. The PT-141 price is $40 per vial. The vial sits in the sexual health peptides category of the peptide shop. For background on the compound, read What is PT-141?.

Research highlights

  • In two 24-week phase 3 trials of 1,267 premenopausal women with HSDD, desire scores rose 0.30 and 0.42 points more than with placebo.9
  • The same trials found no significant rise in satisfying sexual events versus placebo (label).1
  • Nausea affected 40% of women on bremelanotide versus 1.3% on placebo, and 18% stopped because of side effects versus 2% (label).1
  • Blood pressure rose by up to 6 mmHg systolic after each dose, with heart rate down by up to 5 beats per minute, usually resolving within 12 hours (label).1
  • Patches of darker skin appeared in 1% of phase 3 patients using up to 8 doses a month, and in 38% of patients given it daily for 8 days in another study (label).1
  • Two 2004 reports on men found that single injected or nasal doses gave significantly greater erectile responses than placebo; the abstracts do not give study sizes. No use in men is approved.1061
  • In female rats, PT-141 increased solicitation (courtship) behavior without changing lordosis or pacing.11

Regulatory status

Vyleesi (NDA 210557) is a prescription drug and the only FDA-approved bremelanotide product.2 No approved application covers PT-141 sold for research.5 On August 24, 2026, FDA warning letters to at least two online peptide sellers named PT-141 among products the agency called unapproved new drugs.125 In both letters, FDA said labels such as "research use only" did not change its conclusion, because evidence from the sellers' websites showed the products were intended as drugs for human use.125 This vial is sold for laboratory research, and nothing on this page is a direction for human use.

Handling and storage

The vial holds a dry solid, and bacteriostatic water is a separate item. No FDA-reviewed reconstitution directions exist for this product.5 Our guide How to reconstitute a peptide vial covers sterile technique, the reconstitution calculator does the concentration arithmetic, and How to store peptides covers storage. Lab handling supplies include bacteriostatic water, 3 mL Luer-Lok syringes, 18G 1-inch needles, insulin syringes and alcohol swabs. For larger research orders, see wholesale and bulk peptides.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy PT-141 nasal spray?

No bremelanotide nasal spray is FDA approved: Drugs@FDA lists only a solution for injection under the skin.2 Nasal PT-141 was tested against placebo in two studies of men reported in 2004.6 The only approved product, Vyleesi, is a 1.75 mg/0.3 mL injection in a single-dose autoinjector.1 This store does not sell a spray. It offers PT-141 only as a 10 mg freeze-dried vial for laboratory research.

What do I get when I buy PT-141 here?

You get one vial holding 10 mg of PT-141 as a white freeze-dried solid. Strengths on offer: 10 mg. Diluent, syringes, needles and alcohol swabs are separate items on the supplies page. The vial is labeled for research use. It is not Vyleesi, and no approved FDA application covers it.5

How is PT-141 shipped?

Orders ship from the USA and Canada to addresses across the United States. Processing and delivery terms are on the shipping page, and returns are covered on the returns page. This page does not quote delivery times, so check the shipping page before you order for a study with a fixed start date.

Is there a certificate of analysis for this PT-141?

See the lab results page for certificates of analysis. This page makes no purity claim of its own, because the purity of the 10 mg vial has not been independently verified. If your study needs the certificate for a specific lot, ask through the contact page before you order.
