Benefits and uses

CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin benefits and uses

Published sources report hormone changes, not proven health benefits, for the two parts of this blend. CJC-1295 with DAC raised growth hormone and IGF-1 for days in small trials, and IV ipamorelin caused a short growth hormone pulse.46 No study of the blend, or of CJC-1295 without DAC, has measured any outcome in people.12122

What has been measured in people

All human data on the parts of this blend come from studies that measured hormone levels or recovery of gut function after surgery.12

  • CJC-1295 with DAC, 2006 phase 1 trial (healthy adults aged 21 to 61): one injection raised mean growth hormone 2- to 10-fold for 6 days or more and IGF-1 1.5- to 3-fold for 9 to 11 days.4
  • The same program with repeat doses: when two or three doses were spaced 1 or 2 weeks apart, mean IGF-1 stayed above baseline for up to 28 days.41
  • CJC-1295 with DAC, 2006 (12 healthy men aged 20 to 40): a week after one injection, trough growth hormone was 7.5 times higher, mean growth hormone 46% higher and IGF-1 45% higher, with the normal pulse pattern kept and IGF-1 never above the upper limit of normal.51
  • IV ipamorelin, 1999 (healthy men, 8 per dose level): each infusion produced a single growth hormone peak at about 0.67 hours (about 40 minutes), falling to very low levels by 6 hours.62
  • IV ipamorelin after bowel surgery, 2014 phase 2 (114 adults): median time to the first tolerated meal was 25.3 hours versus 32.6 hours with placebo, a difference that was not statistically significant (p = 0.15).7
  • A larger phase 2 surgery trial of ipamorelin (320 enrolled, completed May 2014) has posted no results.8

None of these studies tested the blend, and none measured muscle, fat, sleep, skin or healing of an injury.122122

Findings in animals and cells

  • Bone growth, rats: ipamorelin injected under the skin for 15 days raised bone lengthening from 42 to 44, 50 and 52 micrometers a day as the dose rose, with more weight gain; total IGF-1 did not change.9
  • Bone mineral, rats: 12 weeks of ipamorelin by pump increased bone mineral content in the tibia and spine, in step with body weight gain, through larger bones rather than denser bone.10
  • Steroid-treated rats: over 3 months, adding ipamorelin preserved calf muscle strength and raised the rate of bone formation on the bone surface four-fold compared with the steroid alone.11
  • Body fat, mice: ipamorelin increased fat pad weight relative to body weight, and secretagogue treatment (ipamorelin or GHRP-6) raised food intake in mice with normal growth hormone; the authors concluded the fat gain did not depend on growth hormone.12
  • Hormone selectivity, pigs: ipamorelin released growth hormone while ACTH and cortisol rose no more than with GHRH, even at over 200 times its half-maximal dose; GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 raised both.13
  • CJC-1295 with DAC, GHRH-knockout mice: injections every 1 to 3 days for 5 weeks gave longer leg bones and more lean mass than in untreated knockout mice.1
  • The blend: a 2026 primer for sports physicians says CJC-1295 combined with ipamorelin improved maximum tetanic tension, a measure of muscle force, in rodents with steroid-induced muscle loss.14 The matching study, in steroid-treated rats in 2001, gave ipamorelin alone, and FDA traces CJC-1295 to a 2005 report, so this result should not be credited to the blend.111

A 2026 review of peptide therapies notes that many unapproved peptides show favorable tissue repair and metabolic results in animals, while rigorous human safety data are scarce.15

What sources say by goal

Muscle and strength

No human study of either peptide or the blend measured muscle mass or strength.12 Reviews from 2020 and 2026 describe clinical efficacy data for growth hormone secretagogues as lacking or limited, and a 2026 scoping review found claimed musculoskeletal benefits of these peptides unsubstantiated by human trials.161723 Peptides and muscle growth maps the wider research.

Fat loss

No human data show fat loss with this blend or with either peptide.12 The animal signal runs the other way: ipamorelin raised fat pad weight in mice, and secretagogue treatment raised their food intake.12 Tesamorelin, a different GHRH analog, is FDA-approved only to reduce excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV and lipodystrophy.18 The wider topic is covered in Peptides and weight loss.

Sleep

The published human studies measured hormone levels or gut recovery, not sleep.4567 In the phase 2 surgery trial, insomnia was reported more often with ipamorelin (10.7%) than with placebo (5.2%).2 See Peptides and sleep.

Recovery and healing

The one published human recovery trial, after bowel surgery, missed its main goal; a larger trial posted no results, and development for that use was stopped.782 No study has tested these peptides for tendon, muscle or wound healing in people.215 See Peptides and healing and recovery.

Skin and hair

Websites claim collagen, skin and hair effects, but FDA found no study of any CJC-1295 form in people with a disease or condition, and none of the published studies measured skin or hair.1 A PubMed search for ipamorelin with hair or alopecia returns no records.19

Men, testosterone and women

Most people in the CJC-1295 studies (87%) were men, and their main outcomes were growth hormone and IGF-1.14 A 2026 sexual-medicine review found that secretagogues reliably raise those hormones, but evidence for better sexual function, physical performance or quality of life remains limited.17 In pigs, ipamorelin did not change LH or FSH, the pituitary hormones that drive testosterone production.13 The ipamorelin bone studies were done in female rats, not women.910 Related hubs: Peptides and men's health and Peptides and testosterone.

Blood sugar

Here the evidence points to a possible risk, not a benefit. High blood sugar at discharge was more common with ipamorelin (14.3%) than with placebo (8.6%) after surgery, and FDA lists glucose intolerance and diabetes among the known risks of raised growth hormone shown on approved growth hormone labels.21

How to read this evidence

A 2026 review puts CJC-1295 without DAC in its lowest evidence tier, for compounds with no peer-reviewed human studies at all; most other GHRH analogs and ghrelin mimetics rank higher, with phase 1 or 2 studies but no controlled efficacy data on performance.3 Synergy between the two drug classes has been shown only with other peptides, for example GHRH plus GHRP-6 in 18 healthy men in 1990.20 Side effects and safety warnings are on What is CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin?, and the doses these studies used are on CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin dosage.

Frequently asked questions

Will CJC-1295 and ipamorelin help build muscle or burn fat?

That has not been shown in people. The human studies measured hormone levels or gut recovery after surgery, not muscle or fat.4567 In mice, ipamorelin increased fat pad weight.12 A 2026 primer credits the blend with a muscle-force result in steroid-treated rodents, but the study that matches it gave rats ipamorelin alone.1411 Reviews from 2020 and 2026 describe clinical benefit data for these secretagogues as lacking or limited.1617

Does CJC-1295 + ipamorelin raise IGF-1?

Only one part has human IGF-1 data, and it is the other form: CJC-1295 with DAC raised IGF-1 1.5- to 3-fold for 9 to 11 days after one injection in healthy adults.4 No published human study has measured IGF-1 after CJC-1295 without DAC, after ipamorelin under the skin, or after the blend.122122 In rats, 15 days of ipamorelin did not change total IGF-1.9

Does CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin increase hair growth?

There is no evidence that it does. A PubMed search for ipamorelin with hair or alopecia returns no records, and neither published ipamorelin trial studied hair.1967 FDA found no study of any CJC-1295 form in people with a disease or condition, and the CJC-1295 trials measured hormone levels and safety, not hair.1

Has CJC-1295 plus ipamorelin been studied in humans?

No. As of October 2026, no clinical trial of the combination was indexed in PubMed or registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.2122 A 2026 review found controlled evidence of synergy or body-composition benefit still limited.3 The nearest human data are separate studies of each part: CJC-1295 with DAC in about 63 healthy, mostly male volunteers, and ipamorelin given by vein.12
