Tirzepatide price and cost

Our tirzepatide price runs from $100 to $280 per research vial (5 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg), and the figure worth comparing is tirzepatide cost per mg: the vial price divided by the milligrams it holds. Cost per mg is only as reliable as what the vial really contains, so read the lot certificate before you compare vendors. Research-labeled tirzepatide is not an FDA-approved drug.12

Tirzepatide price by vial size

The table shows the current tirzepatide price for each vial size in our catalog, with the price per mg worked out in the last column. Each price is for one research vial.

Strength Price Price per mg
5 mg $100 $20
20 mg $250 $12.50
30 mg $280 $9.33

Vial sizes are stated in milligrams of tirzepatide, so milligrams are the unit to compare. That holds whether you are choosing between sizes here or weighing one vendor against another. Our catalog also lists this product under the name TRZ GLP2. When you are ready to order, the tirzepatide for sale page shows each strength with its stock status.

Cost per mg: the math

The tirzepatide cost that matters is the cost per milligram. The formula is one line:

Cost per mg = vial price divided by the milligrams in the vial.

The table above applies it to our prices. To check another vendor's quote, run the same division. Here it is with example numbers, not our sizes or prices:

Vial Size Price Cost per mg
A 10 mg 150 15.00
B 25 mg 300 12.00
C 40 mg 400 10.00

Bigger vials often cost less per mg, but not always, so check every row of every quote.

Next, price the whole study rather than one vial. Add up the milligrams the study plan needs, divide by the vial size, and round up to whole vials. With the example numbers, a study that needs 120 mg comes out like this:

Vial Vials needed Total Left over
A, 10 mg 12 1,800 none
B, 25 mg 5 1,500 5 mg
C, 40 mg 3 1,200 none

The largest vial wins here, but only if the study uses every vial in full within the lab's storage plan. Our guide on how to store peptides covers powder and reconstituted vials.

What affects tirzepatide cost

Five things move the amount you actually pay:

  • Vial size. Some costs come per vial, not per milligram: the glass, the filling, the label and the packing. A bigger vial spreads them over more milligrams.
  • Lot testing. Testing a lot for identity, amount and purity adds cost. A low price is only a bargain if the testing behind it is shown.
  • Supplies. Bacteriostatic water and other lab supplies are sold separately on the supplies page, so add them to each quote.
  • Shipping. Check the shipping page and add any shipping cost to each quote.
  • Order size. For larger orders, wholesale terms are confirmed on application through the wholesale page.

How to compare tirzepatide vendors

Price is the last check, not the first. Work through these in order.

  1. Confirm the compound. Product names vary between catalogs, so match by identifiers. PubChem lists tirzepatide under CAS number 2023788-19-2, with the formula C225H348N48O68 and a computed molecular weight of 4813 g/mol.78 A certificate that reports a different identity or mass needs an explanation before you buy.
  2. Get the certificate for your lot. A certificate helps only if its lot number matches the vial you receive. Look for the lab's name, the test date, the method behind each result and the measured values.
  3. Read amount and purity as two results. A purity figure does not tell you how many milligrams are in the vial, and cost per mg rests on the milligrams. Our bulk research vial guide shows why, with measured amounts for retatrutide vials labeled 10 mg.
  4. Note what was not tested. A certificate covers only the tests it lists. If a test your work depends on is missing, ask for it before ordering.
  5. Hold us to the same standard. Our lab results page lists lab documents by lot when they are available. Before you order, ask which lot would ship and for its certificate.

A quote comparison template

Put each vendor's quote into the same rows before you compare totals. Fill in one column per vendor.

Item to record Vendor A Vendor B
Vial size, in mg
Vial price
Cost per mg
Lot number and certificate date
Tests reported (identity, amount, purity, others)
Supplies the study needs, and their cost
Shipping cost
Total for the whole study

The better buy is the lowest total that comes with a complete certificate for your lot. A low total with gaps in the paperwork is a risk, not a saving.

Pricing mistakes that cost more later

  • Comparing vial prices instead of milligrams. The cheaper vial can be the more expensive tirzepatide. Divide first.
  • Leaving supplies and shipping out of the quote. Two vendors can only be compared on the same basket of items.
  • Mixing lots without records. If a study draws on more than one lot, log each lot number against its certificate so any difference can be traced.
  • Buying more than the study can use. Unused milligrams are not savings. Size the order to the study plan and to the storage space you have.

Regulatory status

Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in two FDA-approved prescription medicines, both from Eli Lilly: Mounjaro, approved on May 13, 2022, and Zepbound, approved on November 8, 2023.59 Those approvals cover Lilly's products only. When FDA examined one seller's research-labeled tirzepatide in March 2026, it found no approved application in effect for it.2

FDA warning letters dated December 10, 2024, March 31, 2026 and August 24, 2026 called research-use-only tirzepatide sold by three companies an unapproved new drug.10211 In each, FDA said that despite the research-use labels, evidence from the seller's website showed the products were intended as drugs for human use.10211 FDA's GLP-1 safety page says the agency has warned companies that illegally sold tirzepatide and other GLP-1 drugs falsely labeled "for research purposes" or "not for human consumption".1 It says these products were sold directly to consumers for human use with dosing instructions, and it urges consumers not to buy them because they are of unknown quality and may be harmful.1

D2C Peptides sells tirzepatide for laboratory research only, as set out in our research use policy. For the science behind the compound, read What is tirzepatide?.

Frequently asked questions

What is tirzepatide in peptide form?

Tirzepatide is a linear chain of 39 amino acids with a C20 fatty diacid joined through a linker to the lysine at position 20.3 Its FDA label says it binds to and activates the receptors for two hormones, GIP and GLP-1, and that the fatty diacid lets it bind albumin, which prolongs its half-life.4 Research vials are sold by weight: the strength on the label is the milligrams of peptide the vial is meant to hold.

Is tirzepatide peptide the same as Mounjaro?

No. Mounjaro is Eli Lilly's FDA-approved tirzepatide medicine, first approved on May 13, 2022, and FDA lists it as a prescription drug.5 A research vial labeled tirzepatide is a different product. FDA has called research-labeled tirzepatide an unapproved new drug with no approved application in effect,2 and it describes research-labeled GLP-1 products sold to consumers as of unknown quality.1 That is why this guide compares research vials only with other research vials, by cost per mg and lot documents.

Is there still a shortage of tirzepatide?

No. FDA declared the tirzepatide injection shortage resolved on October 2, 2024, then re-evaluated that decision and, on December 19, 2024, again found the shortage resolved.6 In its most recent update on the topic, dated April 1, 2026, FDA says tirzepatide does not appear on its drug shortage list.6

Does the tirzepatide price include bacteriostatic water or other supplies?

No. Each price in the table is for one vial of tirzepatide and nothing else. Bacteriostatic water and other lab supplies are separate items in our catalog, each priced on its own page in the supplies section, and shipping terms are on the shipping page. When you compare vendors, put the same items in every quote so the totals stay like for like.

Is TRZ GLP2 a different compound from tirzepatide?

No. TRZ GLP2 is a catalog name for tirzepatide, and our catalog lists this vial under both names. The GLP2 in the name does not mean GLP-2 activity: the FDA label describes tirzepatide as binding to and activating the GIP and GLP-1 receptors.4 Because names vary between catalogs, match products by CAS number instead. PubChem lists tirzepatide under CAS 2023788-19-2.7
