Semaglutide cost in our catalog runs from $50 to $110 per research vial (2 mg, 5 mg); to compare sizes or vendors, divide each vial price by the milligrams on its label. To buy semaglutide for a lab study, choose the strength that fits the study's total, check the lot documents and add the supplies you need. Research-labeled semaglutide is not an FDA-approved drug.12

The table lists the current price of each semaglutide strength in our catalog, with the cost per mg in the last column. Each row is one research vial.
| Strength | Price | Price per mg |
|---|---|---|
| 2 mg | $50 | $25 |
| 5 mg | $110 | $22 |
To turn any other vial price into semaglutide cost per mg, divide the price by the milligrams on the label. That single step puts a small vial and a large one, or two catalogs, on the same footing.
Here is an example with numbers that are not our sizes or prices. A 4 mg vial priced at 100 costs 25 per mg, and a 10 mg vial priced at 200 costs 20 per mg. The larger vial costs twice as much up front and 20% less per mg.
Keep two limits in mind. Per-mg math assumes the vial holds what its label says, so it is only as reliable as the lot's test results. And a lower cost per mg saves money only if the study uses the whole vial.
Cost per mg is half the answer. The other half is how the vial sizes fit the total the study needs. Here are two study totals, using the same example numbers (4 mg vials at 100 each, 10 mg vials at 200 each):
| Study total | With 4 mg vials | With 10 mg vials |
|---|---|---|
| 12 mg | 3 vials, 300, none left over | 2 vials, 400, 8 mg left over |
| 18 mg | 5 vials, 500, 2 mg left over | 2 vials, 400, 2 mg left over |
At 12 mg, the smaller vial is cheaper for the study even though it costs more per mg. At 18 mg, the larger vial wins by 100. Run both columns for your own total before you pick a strength, using the prices in the table above.
| Cost factor | What to check |
|---|---|
| Vial strength | The cost per mg of each size, not the sticker price |
| Lot documentation | A certificate whose lot number matches the vials you will receive |
| Form of semaglutide | Whether the certificate names semaglutide or a salt form, which FDA treats as a different active ingredient1 |
| Supplies | Diluent and other items, priced separately on the supplies page |
| Shipping | Terms on the shipping page |
| Order size | Per-mg math at volume, in our bulk research vial guide |
The first two rows deserve the most attention. A price that looks low is worth less if the lot behind it has no matching certificate. The form row is about identity: a vial labeled only "semaglutide" should come with documents that say which substance was measured.
Questions about an order, a lot or a certificate can go through our contact page before you buy semaglutide.
Start with identity, because a product name alone proves nothing. PubChem lists semaglutide under CAS number 910463-68-2.12 The Ozempic label gives the formula C187H291N45O59 and a molecular weight of 4113.58 g/mol, and PubChem's computed weight is 4114 g/mol.513 Identity results on a certificate should fit these values. If they do not, the vendor should explain why.
Then look at the testing itself. A useful certificate names the lab, the test date and the method, and it gives a measured result for each test. Purity and amount answer different questions. A high purity percentage says nothing about how many milligrams went into the vial, so look for a measured amount as well.
Before ordering, a vendor should be able to answer five questions:
Finally, check the seller's record. FDA posts its warning letters on its website, and the regulatory section below cites three sent to sellers of research-labeled semaglutide. The same checks apply to us.
Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic, Rybelsus and Wegovy, and every FDA-approved semaglutide product is prescription only.6789 Research-labeled semaglutide is not covered by those approvals: in warning letters, FDA has told sellers that no approved application was in effect for their products.210 Letters sent in February 2024, December 2024 and February 2025 found that research-labeled semaglutide sold online was intended as a drug for human use, despite its labels, and was an unapproved new drug.14210
FDA's GLP-1 safety page says the agency has warned companies that illegally sold semaglutide falsely labeled for research purposes or not for human consumption.1 It adds that unapproved versions of GLP-1 drugs do not undergo FDA review for safety, effectiveness and quality before they are marketed.1 D2C Peptides sells semaglutide vials for laboratory research only. Semaglutide is a peptide of 31 amino acids.3 It is an analogue of the human hormone GLP-1 with two amino acid substitutions: Aib at position 8 and Arg at position 34.4 The lysine at position 26 carries a hydrophilic spacer and a C18 fatty diacid.5 Research vials are sold by weight: the strength on the label is the milligrams of peptide the vial is meant to hold.
No. Semaglutide is not a DEA-scheduled drug: the DailyMed listing for Ozempic shows DEA Schedule: None.5 That does not make it an over-the-counter product. Every FDA-approved semaglutide medicine, injection or tablet, is prescription only in the US.6789 Research vials sit outside those approvals: FDA has called research-labeled semaglutide an unapproved new drug when the seller's website showed it was meant for people.210
No. Semaglutide switches the GLP-1 receptor on rather than blocking it. The Wegovy label calls it a GLP-1 receptor agonist that selectively binds to and activates the GLP-1 receptor, the target of the body's own GLP-1.11 PubChem also lists FDA's pharmacologic class for semaglutide as GLP-1 receptor agonist.3
Not always. A larger vial often costs less per mg, and the price table shows the cost per mg of each strength. The lower figure saves money only if the study uses the extra milligrams within the lab's storage plan. If it does not, the smaller vial can be the cheaper choice for the study as a whole, even at a higher cost per mg.
Ask for the lot certificate and check the substance name it reports. FDA says some semaglutide sold by compounders may be a salt form, such as semaglutide sodium or semaglutide acetate, and calls these different active ingredients from those in the approved drugs.1 PubChem lists semaglutide under CAS 910463-68-2.12 If a listing or certificate names a salt form or a different CAS number, ask the vendor to explain before you order. If the documents do not say, ask, including when you order from us.
Prices differ for several reasons: vial size, the testing behind each lot, what the price includes and how the order ships. Compare vendors on cost per mg first, then on whether each quote comes with a certificate that matches the lot you would receive. Add supplies and shipping to every quote, so the totals you compare cover the same items.
