Cannabis popsicles are a grown-up frozen dessert for hot Michigan days: fruit juice or puree sweetened with infused simple syrup and frozen in molds. What matters most is an even dose in every pop and a freezer plan that keeps them away from kids.
Dosing: divide by the molds
Divide the THC in the infused syrup you use by the number of pops. Say your infused simple syrup works out to about 5 mg per teaspoon. For 10 pops at 2.5 mg each, you'd stir in 5 teaspoons (25 mg) and sweeten the rest of the way with plain syrup. A pop can take 2 hours to make itself felt, and the effects can last 4 to 12, so have one and wait. Our THC dosage guide covers starting amounts.
What you need
Fruit juice or puree (or puree with a splash of cream or coconut milk), your measured infused syrup and plain syrup to taste; fresh fruit, mint or basil are optional. Flower for a batch of syrup can be ordered for pickup from your nearest High Society store's menu.
How to make cannabis popsicles
Whisk the base and syrups for a full 30 seconds, since infusions can settle in a water-based mix, and stir again between pours. Leave 1/4 inch of headroom, freeze until slushy, add the sticks and freeze solid. Running warm water over the molds releases the pops.
Flavor ideas
- Orange and mango
- Strawberry lemonade, or our frozen strawberry canna-nade
- Coconut and lime
- Mixed berries with mint or basil
Keep the look plain and grown-up. As of October 2026, Michigan's rules for licensed edibles bar shapes, cartoons and packaging that appeal to minors. Those rules cover licensed products, not your kitchen, but the reasoning holds: skip novelty molds and cartoon colors.
Storage and labeling
Frozen pops look like kids' food. A 2023 study of U.S. poison center data counted 3,054 cases of children younger than 6 eating cannabis edibles in 2021, against 207 in 2017, and nearly every case happened in a home.
- Store the pops in a sealed, opaque container labeled "THC, adults only," with the mg per pop and the date.
- Keep it high in the freezer, never with kids' frozen desserts.
- Serve them only to adults 21 and older who've been told they're infused, never at gatherings with kids.
If a child eats one, call Poison Control right away at 1-800-222-1222, or 911 in an emergency; if a pet does, call your veterinarian or an animal poison control center. Our guide to cannabis and parenting has more storage ideas.
