Cannabis-Infused S'mores (Plus Homemade Infused Marshmallows)

Two ways to infuse s'mores, a homemade infused marshmallow recipe, and one habit that keeps the dose simple: one infused part per s'more.

Cannabis s'mores are an adults-only take on the campfire classic, and they work just as well under the oven broiler. Infuse one part, either a labeled infused chocolate square or homemade marshmallows dosed with a tincture, canna-honey or infused syrup, and keep everything else plain. One infused part per s'more keeps the math easy.

Dosing and safety: one infused part per s'more

An infused marshmallow on an infused chocolate square stacks two doses into one bite, and that's the easy mistake to make. Infuse one element only, at least until you know how your batch feels, and count the mg per s'more before you start toasting. Michigan caps a serving of a licensed adult-use edible at 10 mg of THC, which is a lot for a first time; public-health guidance suggests starting at 2.5 mg or less. A s'more's effects may not arrive for 2 hours, so let the evening unfold before any second round. Our THC dosage guide covers starting amounts.

S'mores ingredients

  • Graham-style crackers
  • Marshmallows: plain if your chocolate is infused, or homemade infused ones
  • Chocolate: one labeled infused square per s'more, or plain chocolate if the marshmallows are infused

Use store-bought infused chocolate as packaged, one labeled serving per s'more. Melting and re-portioning an edible breaks up the dose its label lists, so pick a product whose single piece is a dose that suits you. To buy rather than make, browse the edibles on your High Society store's menu; selection varies by store.

How to make cannabis s'mores, indoors or out

At the campfire, toast a marshmallow until golden, sandwich it with the chocolate between two crackers and hold for a few seconds so the heat softens the chocolate. Indoors, set crackers on a sheet pan, top half of them with marshmallows and broil for 30 to 60 seconds, watching closely. Add the chocolate and the top crackers, then press. The chocolate only needs to soften, so keep infused squares away from direct flame.

Infused marshmallow ingredients

  • 2 envelopes (about 5 teaspoons, or 14 grams) unflavored gelatin and 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup (or agave or maple syrup), 1/4 cup water and a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Your measured infusion: a tincture, canna-honey or infused simple syrup, up to about 2 tablespoons
  • Equal parts cornstarch and powdered sugar for dusting

Our tincture guide explains how to read mg per mL on a label.

Infused marshmallow steps

Bloom the gelatin in the cold water in a mixer bowl for 10 minutes. Cook the sugar, syrup, water and salt until the sugar dissolves, then boil without stirring to 240°F. That's the top of the soft-ball stage, 235 to 240°F at sea level; subtract 1°F for every 500 feet up. Pour the hot syrup down the side of the bowl with the mixer on low, then whip on high for 8 to 10 minutes, until thick, glossy and only lukewarm. Add the vanilla and the infusion now that the heat has passed, and whip one more minute so it spreads evenly. Infusions that carry oil, such as canna-honey, can knock out a little air, so pour them in slowly. Spread the mix in a dusted 8-inch pan, let it set for at least 4 hours and cut 25 squares.

Dosing is total mg divided by 25. Say your tincture's label lists 6.7 mg per mL: 2 teaspoons (about 10 mL) carry about 67 mg, roughly 2.7 mg per marshmallow.

Storage and labeling

Toss the squares in the dusting mix and store them airtight in a cool, dry spot, and plan to eat them within about a week. Made with canna-honey, which holds homemade infused oil, they follow the honey's limit instead: eat them within 4 days of making the honey, or freeze them. Label the container "infused," with the mg per marshmallow and the date, and do the same for any infused chocolate you bring outside. These look like any other campfire snack, so pack them separately from the plain bag, somewhere kids and pets won't find them.

Setting: private property, adults only

Using cannabis in public isn't covered by Michigan's adult-use law, and any landowner can say no to it on their land. Michigan's law doesn't protect you on federal land, from Sleeping Bear Dunes to the national forests, where adult-use marijuana is still a Schedule I drug under federal law, as of October 2026. So keep infused s'mores to your own backyard or private land where the host is on board, with adults 21 and older only. Michigan bans driving while under the influence, so plan for nobody to drive afterward. Heading out on the trail instead? See our guide to cannabis outdoors.

Ingredients

  • Dusting mix: 1/4 cup cornstarch and 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 envelopes (about 5 teaspoons, or 14 grams) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup cold water, for blooming
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup, agave or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup water, for the syrup
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Measured infusion: tincture, canna-honey or infused simple syrup, up to about 2 tablespoons (see the note)
  • For s'mores: graham-style crackers and plain chocolate

Steps

  1. Grease an 8-inch square pan and dust it with some of the dusting mix.

  2. Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a stand mixer bowl and let it bloom for 10 minutes.

  3. In a saucepan, stir the sugar, syrup, water and salt over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Stop stirring and boil to 240°F on a candy thermometer.

  4. With the mixer on low, pour the hot syrup down the side of the bowl. Whip on high for 8 to 10 minutes, until thick, glossy and lukewarm.

  5. Add the vanilla and the measured infusion, then whip 1 more minute to blend it evenly.

  6. Spread into the pan, dust the top and let it set uncovered for at least 4 hours.

  7. Cut into 25 equal squares with a greased knife, toss them in the dusting mix and store airtight with a label.

  8. For each s'more, toast one infused marshmallow and sandwich it with plain chocolate between two crackers.

Frequently asked questions

Should I infuse the chocolate or the marshmallow?

Either, but not both at first. A labeled infused chocolate is the simplest route, since the dose per piece is printed on the package. Homemade marshmallows take more work but let you choose your own dose for a whole batch. Whichever you pick, keep the other parts plain so each s'more carries a single, countable dose.

How do I dose homemade marshmallows?

Divide the total mg in your infusion by the number of squares you cut. This recipe makes 25, so about 67 mg from a tincture works out to roughly 2.7 mg per marshmallow. Whip the infusion in for a full minute so it spreads evenly, cut squares the same size and write the mg per piece on the container.

Can I make cannabis s'mores in the oven?

Yes. Set graham-style crackers on a sheet pan, top half of them with marshmallows and broil for 30 to 60 seconds, watching closely because they brown fast. Add the chocolate and the top crackers, then press gently. The warm marshmallow softens the chocolate without putting an infused square under the broiler.

How long do infused marshmallows keep?

Plan on about a week for good texture, or 4 days from when you made the honey if you used canna-honey; freeze any you won't eat by then. Store them airtight in a cool, dry place, dusted with cornstarch and powdered sugar so they don't stick together. Humidity makes them weep and turn sticky, so skip the fridge. Keep the labeled container apart from any plain marshmallows and on a high shelf.
